I would nominate pikeman. he is an honorable player, doesn't turn on u. and is helpful, willingly. I am a rank 8 but have learned to play better because of pikeman. pick him before he becomes a rank 11 and becomes an elite asshole. that can only play with other rank 11's

I used to play with Death1812 when I used to live in Switzerland, was a pretty cool guy
No one realizes how long I've been here

I suggest adding a nonprem category to it, and Backlash would seem a valid option for it.
Playing aw constantly since july/august 2016 I cannot give a solid option for the whole year, but for this period of time, 5 well-rounded players seems to me to be valid options, eventho I envy the acomplishments of the 3rd in pvp(he is really cocky cuz of this ^^) and the accomplishments of the 1st one in team play in eu and the ridiculous humour of the 4th and 5th: klevis, Evic, Witch-doctor , Death4324, Huark.
Many of the options mentioned here by others are, sadly, players who are among the best on 1 map or 1 type of game or clan leaders, good options, but for me a player of the year must be well-rounded in all aspects of the game.

Holy shit, true. Google Chrome leading a group of players have helped a lot of players in AW. They must be in the list too.

Well...
For such an amazing year the Atwar community has faced in 2016, with so many active and contributing players throughout the year, I nominate no one. Why? Because when we compare all the work previous POTY have done throughout the pass, especially clovis, croat and laochra (even though he wasnt awarded) not a single player has done half the work they have done in the past few years. The inactivity killed us all, admins, mod team, players themselves all resulted from a few unfulfilled promises from the admins, though justified. Many people that contributed a lot to this game are now practically ghosts, showing up once in a while to chat with occasional people or friends. Of course, there are few exceptions. Special thanks for Cold Case who tried to liven this game up a bit, with tournaments, posts, Clovis who did what he does the best, helped a lot in the first half of the year and players such as Huark, Xcolo, JF and whole Aristo who showed us that the competitive spirit isnt dead yet and that there are still few of us that believe that the better days will come.
