You can't be racist to a religion. The term race means major divisions of humankind, having distinct physical characteristics. Religion is a belief and anyone can adopt the belief of any religion regardless of their ethnicity or race.
A proper word to describe an unjust or prejudicial treatment of any religion would be religious discrimination and not racism.

Even though it's technically not racism, it doesn't diminish the potential impact of the discrimination. So you can't just say that discrimination towards religion x isn't bad because "religion x isn't a race"

During the 19th and 20th century, Irish people were seen as subhuman in America and discriminated against. They were seen as a race entirely separate from white people. It would be appropriate to call this racism against Irish even though being Irish isn't a race.

Usage of the word racism by large has evolved to mean discrimination against ethnic groups in addition to racial group. To continue to argue semantics "xxx isnt a race" is refusing to argue against the idea that discrimination happens but instead nickpicking dictionary meaning semantic bullshit.

Words are used to convey meaning and even if people are forced to rephrase their word choice, the underlying idea does not go away. There is discrimination and rather than argue about that, you choose to talk about the "textbook correct" ways to convey discrimination in speech.
