Any good player knows that to succeed in this game, you must wall your cities. The problem is that any game involving large areas requires lots of time building walls. Time yourself. Don't be surprised if you spend a third of your time building walls. Now imagine if you had the option to buy a defense ring with one click. Games would run faster, new players would fare better, our hands wouldn't get so tired, and we could focus on the reason we like this game: strategy.

Making walls is a part of strategy (aka time management), you have to prioritize what you want to do. Do you want to invest 1mins/2mins walling in quick games, or spend 30sec/2mins walling while investing the rest of the time in an offensive expansion/tb's. Making walling easier than it already (with the use of hotkeys) just destroys the strategy aspect of walling all together. I agree with your reasons that newer players would be better and less tired hands, but this would reduce skill gap which is never good in a strategy game.

As an advanced option I it could be included therefore not impacting on the game META overall. I can see the benefits for new players also.

Every wall walled the same would be daft. We can't counter a wf that way or place it further from the enemy so, they can't reach it.

But you wouldn't need to enable this should you not wish for it, and will make the game considerably easier for newer/lazy players.- not every player has abundant amounts of time to practice making walls in under 5 seconds also.

For instance, this would be useful for players that can/want to play the game for an hour a week, unfortunately a lot of players aren't able or wont commit to longer turn times/casual games, players which fall into the category are the players the game has the best opportunity to monetise, busy working people. I get why your against it I really do, I used to be too, also the type of players I am discussing I assume don't regularly check the forum, however I do receive complaints from players who cannot adjust to the main room and find the initial learning curve/skill disparity too much to deal with and leave.

The majority of atWar doesnt play RP or high money games, most players play scenarios or low money games, RP/UN has existed ever since we have had 50k games, and still the low level money setting is thriving, especially in 1v1 duels with more players than ever choosing this, therefore in my opinion not a reasonable comparison. Most players who would enable this setting, you would never come into contact with anyway.

Many players can't commit to the 48 hour time limit, I have asked to extend it to 7 day turns, however that is considered to long for turns, therefore playing casual games doesn't solve anything - and for some casual players tediously walling over 100 cities is boring

A "no wall" setting would serve better in my opinion since it is something higher ranks want to, and lower ranks can use it to make and make turns quicker to get more playtime in. This way it would be a win-win for everyone. If lower ranks want to learn to wall they can, or they can just use this setting for casual play. What this proposes it almost like a see through walls for a 5 sec at a time in a FPS, sure the player has to still use hand eye coordination - but it takes away from the strategy/meta game as a whole. You would see almost ever city being walled in atWar than we would have a new problem (which people do not realise would happen). "Now I have to spend too much time wf cities, please find us a solution". Due to these reasons I feel the "no wall" setting is the best option.

Ok,making auto-walls is out of the question. As many have said it is time management and skill. Now if new players learn how to wall, but it isn't easy for them then they shouldn't play this game.I mean you gonna play a strategic game and you don't have iq required to form a wall quickly? Anyway what troll said is the best, add in the tutioral how to wall and maybe add a game player who will auto wall a city near the new player and tell him to wall/wf it. It will be like:"To continue wall Berlin, capital of Germany and wf munich" Ideas?

We are already covering every aspect of walling in a new tutorial.
Thats right they may never learn how to wall properly with this proposal, that is the point they would never have time to anyway and leave the game in the alternative. And you cannot use a bug that doesn't even exist as an argument. Just becuase we have a highmoney setting doesn't mean players only choose high money games. It would be an option that wouldn't affect about 90% of the game anyway.
