Should Custom Maps be Community Assets?

Should Custom Maps be Community Assets? (aka once published they can't be taken down, they can be cloned by anyone and clones are editable, they can't be deleted/hided unless a mod allows it).

if you agree then make a post AND explain why you do. (Write a list of all the positive/negative effects that could result from this.)

No it shouldn't be.
These custom maps, and scenarios were created by the mods and admins or by regular players? I'm pretty sure you know the answer. It doesn't matter how often these maps and scenarios are being played, the admins don't have a permission to take over the hard work of regular user in order to utilize it for their benefit, without consideration of the creator decisions. I'm pretty sure it will lower the level of motivation of the players to continue to make more maps, and content for the game.

Unless the admins add this to the TOS, and apply it on future content, then there is no legitimacy in taking over someone else's creation.

I think it should be. One of the suggestions is Aetius' and Pyrrhus' WW1 (The War to End All Wars).

It is played every day at least a few times and remember the threads where autistic wallspammers were crying to republish it...

As njab said The War to End All Wars had become the most popular scenario in atWar, and a lot of players plays it. In fact there is even a clan dedicated solely for play this map. It of course holds a very big importance in the game.

Deleting or hiding the map would cause several players to complain, which had already happened before.

.... on the other hand, I would feel bad if I make a map and the game steal it from me. So maybe Aetius should receive a reward to encourage him to keep working on the map, and that would also encourage other MapMakers to work in their map to reach what Aetius reached.

Why would someone have a right to just clone my hard fucking work without me giving the permission...

^this is irrelevant, the map could have 0 plays and i would still defend its right to remain a private asset.

so if i complain about RP being evil, i can get it deleted? if so why it hasn't been deleted yet? currently ww1 is a private asset, and people are playing the map as we speak, i don't see why this should change.

custom maps needed to be hided in order to be edited properly, do you disagree?

I'm not a scenario player, but I can understand their frustration if a map like WW1 was taken down.

Maybe add a system where after "x" number of plays the map belongs to the community, but the original maker of the map will always retain founder credit. Maybe even a medal for getting "x" number of plays on their map, as a reward for their success as a map maker.

No it shouldn't be.

If you want the voice of the community, accept the voice of the community. not everything is in your favor, you can explain why you disagree but you can't shoot someone down just because they voice their opinion.

why would you do such a silly thing anyways?

what is going to happen when the map needs updating? who is going to fix the bugs and exploits? who is going to balance it? who is going to edit the map?

I don't agree with it, 99% of the aw community might not agree with it but you can still act normal to the person...

Edit: I haven't voiced a single thing on the topic here, I'm just saying that if every opposing opinion is met with such aggressiveness.... It won't bring this thread any closer to getting a response of one of the admins
